Cleaning Your Skagen Watch
Skagen suggests the following solutions to clean metal and crystal surfaces:
3:1 solution of ammonia based window cleaner to water
4:1 solution of rubbing alcohol to water.
Do not use soap products.
These suggested solutions will evaporate cleanly from metal and glass surfaces. Soap will leave residue behind when dry.
To clean true and crystal:
Moisten a soft cloth with one in the above solutions. Gently wipe true and crystal clean. Moisture could seep past the seals over time.
To clean the band or strap:
Skagen soft mesh bands are often adjustable. Simply insert a tiny screwdriver or similar tool into the clasp. Lift the clasp without applying pressure on the thin pin over the clasp and go on to desired position. Snap closed securely. Make sure the clasp is set a single in the indentations for the back of the band. Link bands are completely adjustable anywhere watches are serviced.
Skagen suggests the following practices to clean metal, rubber and leather surfaces:
Metal watchbands
Dip a cotton swab in the above solution, and gently rub it to the soiled portion from the band. For additional intricate mesh bands, you could want to use a soft bristle toothbrush or nailbrush. Be sure to hide the situation from the watch during this process so as not to soak it. For stubborn soil, you could want to bring it with a jeweler for any professional cleaning.
Rubber watchstraps
Simply wipe them down using a damp, soft cloth. Avoid soaps and solvents as they may dry or crack the plastic.
Leather watchstraps: Top Grain
Top grain leather might be seen as an its smooth, somewhat shiny appearance. To clean this kind of leather, follow a similar procedure as using the rubber watchband. Simply wipe it clean using a damp cloth, using water only. You might want to use leather conditioner or even a small quantity of hand lotion to maintain your leather supple over time.
